Charting New Waters

I have been busy as of late, in both my personal and professional life, and fear I am getting stretched a bit thin.  I have this nagging little voice derailing me at odd moments, telling me to get my ass to the keyboard and work on a post!  While I haven't posted anything new in a bit, I have been working on a writing project which you will soon be able to share, and I hope, enjoy.

A fellow blogger and I are coauthors of a work of fiction in installments, Dickensian style if you will, which we will begin posting in the not too distant future.  I think this is the first time this has ever been done in this medium, and we are both having a lot of fun with it.  Our end goal?  To tell a story together without scripting it, to feed off one another's ideas and plot introductions in a creatively open way, and wind up with a tale that is both entertaining, and contains a shared resolution.  We will of course be listening to you, too.  Will you influence the story, or perhaps just be a passive listener?  Who knows...

In case you are wondering, I am writing with this guy.  Many of you may know him as a penetrating, and bright essayist, but that is just one facet.  He also happens to be a hell of a fiction writer, and I am doing my best to keep up with him.  This is uncharted water for both of us, but especially for me.  Most of my work has been written in brevity, and this may wind up being something much more substantial.  I hope you will stay tuned, and grace both of us with your patience, audience, and openness.  It is going to be something new for ALL of us.

Tater, thanks for two things:

First: Introducing me to Al and his blog
Second: Your work in progresss - its sounds like a great project and I'm really looking forward.
Third: (I never could count) For all the brillant posts in the past few years.

I KNEW I was right! Hah! OK, it wasn't that hard to figure out actually- but yay!!! I can't wait to see what you two produce.

Ooooh, sounds fun. My more creative writing endeavors have taken a back seat lately, but I had a really good meeting at my writers' group today, so maybe that and a stirring tale from you and Al will get me back on the saddle!

The best of luck in your new co-writing adventure. I like that idea of one starting a story, stopping, and the other continuing it with their own ideas intermittently throughout the story. I'm looking forward to the experience.

ooh, two of my favorite menses, wielding their pens! (no, as in the bastardized plural of men, not the monthly bodily ritual.) How exciting! This should be good, and I'm very interested to see how your two styles will work together.

I was actually thinking about taking on a co-bitching partner, where we colloborate on bitching about life. OK not really.

Good luck guys, I'm so excited to see what you come up with.
